Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Air Canada has issued administrative termination letters to seventeen (17) Ex-CAIL members that have been on the CAIL long term disability plan for a length on time.
Within these letters, the company advises that they will no longer be considered as Air Canada employees as of December 31 2014.
District Lodge 140 has submitted a General Grievance on this issue as we see this as a huge financial burden to these members in regards to the loss of supplemental health and dental benefits, and a detrimental effect on their pensions.
In addition, District 140 has requested a cease and desist on the matter and will be processing this at the hearing dated December 17, 2014. Our hope is that the arbitrator will uphold our request in the interim while we investigate further.
It is also our opinion that this targeted process is discriminatory against sick and injured people and a violation of these individuals’ human rights.
Should you be one of these members, please contact your Local Shop Committee or your District Lodge representative for further information. Should you know of any of these members, please advise them to do so as well.
In solidarity,
Tony Didoshak
General Chairperson
